An unidentified body was discovered in the Chattabal area of Srinagar on Wednesday morning, sparking a police investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death.
Details of the Discovery
According to eyewitnesses, the body was found near the Chattabal Bridge, a busy thoroughfare in the city. Local residents alerted the police, who promptly arrived at the scene to cordon off the area.
Police Response
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Srinagar, Imtiyaz Ismail, confirmed the discovery and stated that an investigation has been launched.
"We have retrieved the body and sent it for post-mortem examination. We are working to identify the deceased and determine the cause of death," SSP Ismail said.
Investigation Underway
The police have registered a case under relevant sections of the law and are scrutinizing CCTV footage to gather clues. Forensic experts have also been summoned to assist in the investigation.
